A must read...

Have you read this book yet?

It was amazing....I could not put it down. If you liked The Kite Runner by the same author, you must read A Thousand Splendid Suns.

President Gordan B. Hinckley

I love and admire President Hinckley. I know that he is a true Prophet of God. He is my prophet. I think everyone has "their" prophet that they perhaps grew up with or gained their testimony while he was serving as Prophet. Mine is President Hinckley. I was a Freshman at college when he became the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was while I was attending college in my early twenties - an impressionable age - that I really gained a testimony of my own. He is the prophet that I have prayed for my whole marriage. He is the prophet I have taught Gabriel about and to pray for. I loved to hear him speak and listen to his voice crack sometimes. I always have admired his relationship with his wife, Marjorie, and the love they had for each other. I was so broken hearted for him when she passed away, and left him so lonely. Can you imagine the reunion they had tonight? Here are just a few things I love about him:

I love everything he stood for. I love his sense of humor. I love his smile. I love his example. I love his teachings. I love that he loved us. I love that he loved the Savior. I love his relationship with Marjorie. I love the way his children speak of him. I love that he was such a cute old man. I love that even though I have never met him, I feel like I personally know him. I love President Hinckley.

Curiousity...

The other night I went into the bathroom to discover this....

An entire roll of toilet paper... I'll give you one guess who the culprit is...

Suggestions...

I LOVE the book club I belong to! Not only do we read some great novels, but we have great conversation and always yummy food! The next time we meet, we are bringing suggestions for the next few books to read. So...has anyone read anything absolutely fabulous that you think everyone else should read, too? We are currently reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. The first book we read was Eclipse in the Twilight Series...of course, loved by all!

One of my personal favs so far has been These is my Words. I got sucked into the main characters life. When I finished the book, I could have started over and read it again.
So what is your pick?

Singing Praises to Red Hanger...

Those of you who and know and love my Jesse, know that he likes the finer things in life. I go so far as to call him a snob. He loves great food and fine clothing. When it comes to his clothes, he wins the award of coming up with the craziest color combinations and pulling it off. One of his favorite places to purchase his "fine" clothing is Utah Woolen Mills in downtown SLC. This is not your cheap mall suit joint. They mean business. They know Jesse by name and have actually called me when a fabulous piece of clothing has come in, and they just know Jesse would love it. I think they are all working for the devil himself. Anyways, I can't afford to shop there on a regular basis, so on special occasions - such as birthdays - we can actually go INTO Utah Woolen Mills and purchase something. Jesse's birthday is coming up in February, so he was on the hunt! He found this great jacket that screamed his name and just had to have it. I must admit, it is pretty fabulous and looks so great on him. So here is the jacket....the story is not over...Since it is still cold outside, I figured he could have his birthday present early and wear it all winter. Bad choice. He had it hanging in our Master Bedroom Closet. This may seem innocent, but I keep all of my Laundry supplies in there also since our stackable washer/dryer are in a closet in the Master Suite. SOOOOO....I was putting a new bottle of LIQUID Tide up on a shelf when WHOOSH! down the liquid came all over me! Of course I was shocked, but hey, I was in my Mom clothes and they already had snot and tiny hand prints all over them, so they needed to be washed anyways. I got sick when I saw that the liquid was all over Jesse's fine jacket. Oh crap. Jesse didn't get upset, he just calmly called Red Hanger Dry Cleaners while I tried to convince him that even if there was still a stain on his jacket, it was very expensive and he could still wear it. I didn't work. Anyways...Red Hanger gave him a lady's name and location to find the next day. When Jesse walked into her place the next day, she knew who he was, took the jacket, washed it separate from all other clothing, and IT CAME OUT! And they still only charged $7. They will have all of my Dry Cleaning business from here on out.

Hump Day!

My in-laws are serving in the Greece Athens Mission. Last week marked their half-way mark! Yippee! Only nine more months to go! We miss them terribly, but are thankful for their great example to serve - especially to the Grandkids. We love you!

What did you think?

Jesse and I rarely see a movie, but we ventured out with friends Ty and Sarah last night to see National Treasure. I liked it...Jesse thought it was okay. I would like to see the first one again, as they are pretty similar. I would give this one 3 1/2 stars. How about you? What did you think?

The next movie on our list is one Gabriel is waiting for. The Spiderwick Chronicles. He is obsessed! February 15 - we'll be there! There are 5 small books in the series and quick reads if anyone wants to read them before the movie comes out. I actually quite enjoyed them myself!

What are you?

So Abbey and Allison took this test and I just couldn't resist...

Take this test!

You're yellow, the color of joy and energy — two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting color for a warm and inviting person — you!

Andie and Emma

Emma and her best buddy, Andie, have a love/hate relationship.

They have been hanging out since they were about 3 months old, so seem to feel like they can act like sisters when they are together. I would know how this feels/looks like since I have 4 sisters of my own and no brothers. They scream the other one's name when they catch a glimpse of each other, they hug and kiss upon first seeing one another like they have been away for years when in reality it has only been hours, then they proceed to fight over the silliest toys - and Andie's dad, hit (um, that would be just Emma), cry, and try to lead the other one astray (um, that would be Andie).
But, they really are so cute together. I hope we stay friends with their parents so the girls can be friends...just kidding Ty and Sarah!
These hot sunglasses were the last item they fought over. Who wouldn't fight over those babies?

Happy New Year!!

Welcome 2008! We had a wonderful evening in the company of great friends. We did play 25 Words or Less in which the boys cheated and won. And we filled out the New Years Resolution cards...some were serious and some were silly making it a night full of laughs! Just as predicted, Jesse was asleep before midnight...
And the kids were in the basement playing...not destroying anything, but building a rocket!
