You get some fun and often CRYPTIC answers.

Flashback Friday...

I found these old polaroids of me and my sisters, and thought I'd share for Flashback Friday.

This is me and Kathy at Redfish Lake. See the green tent in the background? All SEVEN of us would sleep there. Bless my mom.

This is four of the five of us girls the Christmas before Nell was born. She would join us in January. Love the couch you can see in the corner of the picture. This couch had a hide-a-bed and we would pull that baby out every Friday night so we could get up at the crack of dawn to watch Saturday morning cartoons. Now, a mother myself, realize that my mom let us do that so we wouldn't wake her up. She not dumb.

Kathy, Me, and Nell. Must be Christmas time again, because we are all in matching pajamas. See the big stereo behind us? The lid lifts up and we would play records and 8-tracks and dance all over the living room. We also used this for our Miss Idaho/USA/Universe pageant dances and walking the runway. So big time.

Nell, our neighbor Kimi, and me. I so loved that yellow coat.

Go Visit...

This blog...

It is hilarious! I found it earlier this week by stalking blogs of people I don't even know. It is a spoof on married Mormon women and their blogs. I can't even read the posts without using a valley girl accent. Go check it out.

Must See...

You MUST go see The Dark Knight! It was absolutely amazing. And Heath Ledger as The Joker....WOW! Honestly, we could have watched this movie multiple times that night! I wouldn't recommend taking younger aged children to this - I wouldn't take my 9 year old. A little too disturbing. But for me - no. I loved it.

Memory Lane...

I have had a few friends post this on their blogs, and thought it would be fun. (What I can't figure out is some of them are friends who don't have a connection...how does everyone do the same tags and such?) Hope you'll play!

MEMORY LANE

MEMORY LANE- This will be fun! This is just too fun to pass up. Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! I guess good or bad, but be nice!!!!!!!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

How Could I Forget THIS?

Connie reminded me of one thing I forgot on my list at the Convention...SPANDEX! And a lot of it. In fact, one night we were walking through the lobby and heard this guy say, "There is Spandex everywhere!". Heehee... And a whole lot of skin, whether you wanted to see it or not.

And not so many woohoo's at this convention. Or, maybe I'm just used to it now.

Viva Las Vegas...

Sorry to disappoint, but I don't have any pictures of our trip to Las Vegas. What? How did that happen? Steph? How did that happen? I'll tell you how it didn't happen...we were working our butts off...but loving it! Picture this:

Day One: Wednesday
  • All Smiles!
  • No kids...no husbands...no worries...
  • Awesome keynote speaker - John Gray (he's the Mars/Venus guy) AWESOME!
  • Couple of 2 hour workouts. AWESOME!
  • Eating out.
  • Shopping.

Day Two: Thursday
  • Still smiling.
  • No ones diaper to change.
  • Eating out.
  • Four 2-hour classes today - all workouts. FABULOUS!
  • Shopping.
Day Three: Friday
  • Getting tired. Smile is fading.
  • Does anyone need me to dress them or feed them?
  • Four more 2 hour classes - all lectures today. LEARNED A TON...LOVIN' IT!
  • Eating out isn't so great anymore. Can someone make me a cheese sandwich?
  • Spent all shopping money - dang.
Day Four: Saturday
  • Just want to see my kids and hubby.
  • Start having visions of what we will eat when we get home...favorites were protein shakes, shredded wheat, and Barbacoa.
  • Really - will someone just NEED me right now?
  • Final 2 classes.
  • Flight home.
  • Surprise from Jesse and kids at the airport - almost cried. (he wasnt' supposed to pick me up...I know...so sweet)
Back to real life...laundry...cooking...reading everyone's blogs...changing diapers...I think every woman should have AT LEAST one trip away from her family per year. It makes us realize how much we love being a mom, and I HOPE it makes those at home realize how much they need us. Enough said...

A Week in Review...

I really shouldn't be blogging right now, I should be PACKING to go on a trip to Las Vegas! It's a fitness convention, and I am SO excited :)

So, I think I already summed up what made me smile last week, but here's a recap:
  • My birthday - Thanks Jess for making it special!
  • Haircuts.
  • Playing frisbee with Gabe.
  • Warm, summer nights.
  • Jared and Amy spending a couple of days with us.
  • Enjoying a 5K and wanting to do more.
  • Freedom.
Have a great week! I'll be melting in Vegas...

ps. Will someone feed Jesse for me while I'm gone?

Post Extravaganza!!!

WARNING...I just posted an outrageous amount of posts....okay, like maybe 4. But that is a lot for me all at once! So grab a Diet Dr. Pepper and some Junior Mints (because that is what I would grab), sit down, and enjoy catching up on the Allen Household Happenings! Have a great weekend!!

Our 4th of July...

This is how our 4th of July was spent...

We headed to Provo at 6:00am to have our first attempt at a 5K. Our sweet neighbor, Melissa, was so cute to offer to take Gabe, so we didn't have to push him. I am SO glad I took her up on her offer, as there were 1500 people running in the 5K alone! This is us after we finished up the race. It was a great time! We will do it again!

We met up with Jared and Amy later and took the kids to see Wall-e. It was cute. Not my favorite of the Disney-Pixar films. The kids said they liked it.

Our neighborhood then had a BBQ at a park by our house. They played "Horton Hears a Who" on a big screen. We stayed for a little, then took off to watch the fireworks. Here is part of Jared and Amy's family and my family waiting for the movie to start.

Yes, It was my Birthday...

Wednesday was my Birthday. Jesse was sweet and took the family out to breakfast. I did my normal routine for the day...a little weeding, taught a class at the gym, some laundry, made the beds...nothing out of the ordinary. I had a haircut that evening with my fabulous hairdresser, Brooke. When I went to leave, Jesse was parked in the parking lot to take me to dinner. He had arranged a Babysitter ALL BY HIMSELF, and made reservations at Ruth's Chris. Have you been there? You should go for your next Birthday. It is delicious. And we lived it up! Sourdough bread to start out with...of course, then some calamari, Ruth's Chopped Salad (I stumbled upon this yummy salad my first time there after they brought me the DE-licious Lobster Bisque. How did I like it? Oh, it was divine...then they told me it was the BRANDY they pour in it right before they serve it. Dang, it...so I ordered a salad. ) Salad was followed by the Filet with Sweet Potatoes (YOU HAVE TO GET THESE) and Broccoli. I was stuffed, but wasn't about to pass up the Chocolate Duo Dessert. Unnecessary, but so loved.

Of course, I have such sweet friends who called or stopped by to make my birthday special. Jeff and Lisanne even made me a fabulous chocolate cake, and Ty and Sarah called from Colorado so sweet Andie could sing me Happy Birthday. Thanks everybody for making my day special!

And the New Cast Color Is...

ORANGE!!!

While we were at the Dr.'s office, Emma kept telling him her sob story that she crashed her bike riding down a hill and needed a cast....a pink one. He was so sweet to listen to her and give his "Oh, No's!" and "So sad" at the right times. When he was done with Gabe's cast, he kindly wrapped Emma's leg up, too. (Don't worry, it's not a cast.)

Every time I touched her leg, she would say "Don't toucha my hurt leg". Okay...I won't. (don't you love her outfit??)

Flashback Friday...

July 4, 2001...this is right before Gabe turned 2. It's fun to see pictures of Gabe back then and compare them to Emma today. Both so darn cute...

It's Getting There...

We have been working on our backyard for, what seems like, forever! But it is coming along....slowly, but coming along.

Jesse was going to build a Pergola in the backyard, and then we realized he has like ZERO time to do this. So we hired someone. Here is day one:

And by day two we had ourselves a Pergola:

Jesse would love to hang a rod iron chandelier from the log in the center with candles. Very cool. We are also taking the leftover log, cutting it up to be the ends of a couple of benches, then having a neighbor do some bench "tops" for us. Such a process to get a backyard in! But, I think we will be happy with the results!
