Flashback Friday...

Fall 2006

I love this picture for many reasons. The top two being my boys. I wanted to share this for Flashback Friday because the Big Boy has a birthday this week. I am so grateful I have him in my life and love the relationship his has with his son. Last night as we were getting ready for bed, he realized he had to pick up a customer at the airport and be at Dad's and Donuts at the same time. He arranged for someone else to be at the airport, so he could be at the school with Gabe. I love that about him. Gabe told me he said a prayer so Dad could be able to come to Dad's and Donuts.

And on that farm he had a....

Cow...Emma is visiting Grandma Gayle and Papa Frank this week. Uncle Ray has new baby calves, and Emma loves to tag along to feed them. My Mom and sister, Paula, also convinced Emma that they gave her binky to a baby calf that really needed it. Oh....I so hope this works!!!

Spotlight on Emma...

Honestly....don't you just want to kiss those little cheeks right off??

Emma got a new haircut today from our friend, Whit! Too adorable! Thanks, Whit!

Emma is also *finally* potty-trained so is now currently looking into Pre-schools to attend in the Fall. Way to go Emma!

She is also still obsessed with the color pink. And don't even try to call that Heart Dress she is wearing a "dress". It's a shirt. She doesn't do dresses.

Exhausted...

Emma is in that phase where she only takes naps when she is completely exhausted. Today must have been one of those days...

She fell asleep in the living room looking at her Valentine Cards. I love this little baby of mine...

My latest read...

This was the last book we read for Book Club: Left To Tell. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It is about this woman who survived the Rwanda Holocaust in 1994 by hiding in a cramped bathroom with seven other starving women for 91 days. It was amazing story that truly touched me.

Reading this book brought back a memory from college. During my freshmen year at ISU, my English 101 teacher was from Rwanda. I remember him being absent one day and hearing that his family had been murdered in Rwanda. Of course, I felt horrible for him, but not until now that I read the full historical account do I really understand what happened that day to him and his family. Tragic.

Flashback Friday...

Two of my favorite roommates at ISU - Jamie and Pepper.
I think this was taken before we were actually roommates - I'd say 1995 or 1996.
We could be poster children for the 90's - big hair (okay - me big hair), pale skin, and dark lips! We were smokin' hot!

You know you have been slacking when....

...your Dad lets you know you need to update your blog!!

I called my Mom tonight , and I hear my Dad in the background saying, "Tell her she needs to update her blog!"

My apologies for being absent lately. I tried to come up with a REALLY good excuse...but I have none. I was just being lazy...

So here is a picture for Dad....this little girl loves her Papa Frank and Grandma Gayle!

Yesterday she came upstairs with a bag full of ALL of her underwear (she has a lot), her coloring books, and some crayons. She announced that she was packed and ready to go to Papa Frank's and Grandma Gayle's. They love you too, sis!

Ta Da!!!

It's done!!! The room still needs some decorating, but the paint and bedding is done!! Emma loves her new room....So happy!
We thought about doing more flowers...until we started!

I was lucky enough to have Jesse home all week last week! I put him to work! For one, he painted a wall in his office:
He also:
  • Put together furniture for my craft room and set it all up.
  • Put together new shelving for the storage room for our food storage.
  • Took down Emma's crib and helped me convert her "nursery" into a little office for me.
  • Helped move furniture in Emma's room - hang drapes - bought a new mattress - helped decorate - and painted flowers.
  • Moved the playroom to its own special room.
  • Cleaned the garage so our garbage cans could fit.
  • Shoveled the driveway a bazillion times - our driveway is the cleanest in the neighborhood!
  • Took down the Christmas Tree.
  • Took the kids swimming twice.
  • To the movie once.
  • And to Clark Planetarium.
  • Helped Gabe learn to ride his new Ripstick and play basketball.
  • Spent New Years Eve driving to Idaho to pick up Gabe then to Boondocks, Sushi, and to a movie.
  • AND was my personal taxi driver!
I'm sure that is not how he expected to spend his vacation, but I sure do love him for spending time with us at home :) Thanks, babe!
