Calling All Women...

Ok girls here you go. As you can imagine it is not without a little hesitancy and a lot of anxiety that I'm putting these pictures out there for the world to see. As many of you know there has been a "life-style" change at the Allen house. The change wasn't easy at first, but the results were exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Since making this change I've lost 17.6 pounds, but more importantly I lost 12.88 % of body fat, 5 inches of my hips, 3.5 inches from my waist, and 2.75 inches from my thighs. More importantly I gained a new found respect for setting and achieving goals, gained greater self-discipline and respect, and a new appreciation for my abilities. So if a chocolate loving, candy craving, sugar devouring, sweet-aholic like me can do it so can you, and that is the real point of this blog. Together with my good friend Kristi Attaway, the Fitness Queen, we've started a new company to help women maximize their potential and achieve their fitness goals. We have a 12 week course, that we offer to women in the privacy of their own home teaching them the proper principles of fitness, nutrition and weight loss. You get a group of 10-20 women together, and we'll take care of the rest. You'll have a blast discovering you're true potential, and you'll be able to do it while being accountable to your friends. Give me a call or send me a note and I'll give you more info. 801-318-5644 or allenfamily@broadweave.net

Making me Giggle This Week...

One of Gabe's buddies, Nathan, was helping us work out in the yard Monday night. He was telling Jesse that his Mom had to have surgery and about a conversation that he had with his mom. This is how I envisioned the conversation between Nathan and his Mom going....

Mom: I have to have surgery tomorrow.
Nathan: Why?
Mom: Because I have a hernia, and I need to get it fixed.
Nathan: Why?
Mom: Because it is serious, and if I don't get it fixed I could die.
**silence**
Nathan: If you die, can I go live at Gabe's house?

More Swimsuits...

Okay - I found another local swimsuit company to fall in love with: Hapari

I got to model these great suits on Good Things Utah today. Fun day, and really - the swimsuits are amazing. Modest and they all tie 3 different ways. I found two favorite things with Hapari:
1. The skirt cover up....so, so cute!
2. The Shore: It is like the cap sleeve and camis we all wear under our clothes. The kicker - it stops at your bra line with a band! Love it! Then you don't have the entire shirt...under another shirt...and usually over another shirt...genuis, I tell you! The camis come out on June 1.

One Word...

INCREDIBLE!

Jesse and I went to see "Wicked" last night....it was truly amazing! My new favorite musical. If you can get your hands on some tickets - GO while they are still in SLC. We were laughing out loud!!

Yep...she really did

While we were in St. George, Emma came up to me one night while I was making dinner to tell me something....

"Hey Mom....don't go look at the poop on the wall."

Flashback Friday...

Going on vacation with my own family last week caused me to reflect on my family vacations growing up. We usually went camping. Here are two family vacation shots - Mt. Rushmore...

And I am almost positive this is to Mount St. Helens. Dad - am I right?

But I really wanted to share these photos with you to document that the big hair thing is NOT MY FAULT! I had no control over it. How long do you think it took to get the hair to look like that??

  • My date got a perm for prom.
  • My dress had a HUGE bow on the back that I so loved.

Swimsuit Season...

It's almost here...the dreaded swimsuit season! I found these super cute, modest suits over at Amara Day Spa in Lindon. I think they are much cuter when you try them on. They even carry a darling one piece suit (which I usually say "EW" to)! Check them out here.

A Week in Review...

Making me smile this week:
  • General Conference - especially drawn to President Monson's talks. I can't wait to read his words again.
  • Hair cuts
  • Grocery shopping by myself
  • A date with Emma and rootbeer floats
  • Watching Gabe get excited over new books
  • Ladies Night Out at Robert's
  • Jazz Game for Date Night
  • My classes/the members at the gym - and not being able to walk the next day...
  • Drawing sideburns on Gabe's face the day AFTER his Elvis report....he said the girls liked them.

Oh, really?

Gabe's class did a Biography Book Report for the month of March. The assignment was to pick a book on someone famous, read it and fill out the report, then dress up as the person and tell about yourself to the class. Well...Gabe's friends picked George Washington, Neil Armstrong, Anne Frank, Pocahontas....You'll never guess who Gabe picked....

That's right - THE KING:
I didn't want to spend a ton of money dressing him up, so we improvised with what we had at home! I sewed him a gold cape (that I did buy), raided Emma's dress up bag for some gold beads, gave him a gold belt from Christmas Ribbon, painted old sunglasses gold, cut out a cardboard guitar complete with fishing string and buttons, and of course - black eyeliner sideburns. He looked so good and his report was awesome!

The best part was when he shook his hips for the class. He said, "When I shake my hips like this - shake, shake, shake - the girls go wild!" Oh - Gabe...they went wild!!
