Gabe Update...

Gabe has been doing so well, considering what happened to him. He has mastered the crutches already. He figured out to go up and down the stairs outside on his crutches, and scoots on his bum going up and down stairs in the house. We got his cast on today and he picked...

Looks good, huh? Check out the purple bruise on his bicep...

We truly have the greatest friends and neighbors. So many calls to offer to take Emma or come sit with Gabe. He has had a Rootbeer Float (his favorite!), ice cream, shakes, water guns, movies, coloring books....so spoiled! His friends have been super cute. Brady and Nathan from across the street came over Monday with ace bandages wrapped around their arms and legs. Today, Nathan showed up like this...

He said he was awfully sweaty...

I want to come and sign it!! What a cute boy Gabe is to stay positiive. We'll need to keep helping out to make it through the summer! Did they wash his leg really well before the cast was put on?

Green is a lovely choice. No hiding that cast. Good to hear that he is getting around okay.

Poor little guy.....
Thanks for the comment, it's always fun to hear from old high school friends. I love your flash back Fridays...... the 90's style was the best!!!! If you don't mind I'll add your blog to my friends list so I can keep in touch. I hope everything is going well for you and your family.

Hey Trish! I found your blog through Jen C's. Anyways, just wanted to say hi! We miss you guys! I can't believe what happened to Gabe! He must be one tough kid for being able to bend the fence like that...should we nickname him "The Incredible Hulk?" I sure hope he heals fast. His cast reminded me of Dylan, when he was about 3 yrs. old. He was in a full body cast after my nephew tripped him while we were watching a baseball game. He landed on his knee and got a spiral fracture. He had to scoot around the floor in our hot apartment in California. It was the middle of summer too! Tell Gabe sorry for us...hopefully he'll continue to have lots to keep him busy!

I'm still amazed at the severity of the accident, and that he came out of it as well as he did...gotta love the guardian angels. :) I'm glad he's doing so well considering the circumstances...what a good kid!!

I showed my girls your post with the bent fence and this one with the cast. We have vowed to wear helmets from now on. What's a little boy with a broken leg to do all summer? Looks like he has lot's of supporters to keep him company and his spirits up.
