Jesse was going to build a Pergola in the backyard, and then we realized he has like ZERO time to do this. So we hired someone. Here is day one:
And by day two we had ourselves a Pergola:
Jesse would love to hang a rod iron chandelier from the log in the center with candles. Very cool. We are also taking the leftover log, cutting it up to be the ends of a couple of benches, then having a neighbor do some bench "tops" for us. Such a process to get a backyard in! But, I think we will be happy with the results!

Wow - aren't backyards the greatest? So much potential, and it makes for such a great family hang out place.
I love pergolas! They are so inviting and cozy. I really like the design of yours and using leftover wood to create seating is genius!

That is gorgeous! You know...by the time you build something yourself for the sake of saving a little $$$..I always feel like you end up paying MORE in valuable time! Jon doesn't always share my opinion,but I think most wives feel like I do. Don't they? Your backyard is coming along beautifully.
