Flashback Friday...

Let's continue making fun of my 90's hairstyle and clothing choices, shall we? Okay, here we go...Here are two dances I went to my Senior Year.

Prom...Josh Atkinson. He was/is a genuinely nice guy. Dances are so much more enjoyable with friends, don't you think? I hope I can teach my children this. Okay, onto making fun of the picture...I really am wearing high heels, not moon boots. But guaranteed the shoes are white. Now check out my wrist corsage. Could it be any bigger?? Enough of this one...let's get to the next dance.

Homecoming...Tom Willie. Another really nice guy. Let's make fun of him for a minute. Notice how is hair is a little longer in the back and flips a little. So cool in 1993. Now for me...white shoes...again! Okay...off white. Let's just look at the hair for awhile...uh-huh...and I'm going to leave it at that...

Welcome Emma!

This week Emma turns TWO! So the posts this week are all about HER! Just as a princess deserves...a whole week of posts devoted just to her.

Here are a few facts about my pregnancy with Emma:
  • She was a patient little thing...waiting almost 7 years after Brother got to come to our family for her turn to come.
  • We found out at our 20 week Ultrasound that we were having a girl, and couldn't have been happier!
  • We found out at the same Ultrasound that I was 3 weeks further along than I thought, and I couldn't have been happier!
  • I taught my aerobics classes through the entire pregnancy and felt great!
  • I taught my last class on a Tuesday at 5:00am and was at the hospital at 7:00am to have a baby.
  • I didn't buy one piece of Maternity clothing. I just squeezed into all of my clothes. Probably a bad choice. But by time I got so big I needed Maternity Clothes, it was too close to having Emma and not worth the expense...in my eyes anyways.
  • I ended up with a C-Section because the cord wrapped around her neck - twice.
These pictures were taken by our good friend, Shannon, when Emma was just 4 days old. I love all of that black hair! Isn't she so perfect? This first one is my very favorite...

Flashback Friday...

This is one of my very favorite pictures of Gabe...

This is truly Gabe's personality! Always with the most adorable smile on his face, his cute little grin (with a few holes right now!), and laughing. He loves to make us laugh by telling jokes or repeating lines from a movie or cartoon. This was the last family photo shoot before Miss Emma joined our family. Emma completes our little family, but I will always treasure those years when it was just Gabe and me. He was my little sidekick. We went everywhere together. I have so many fond memories of those years with just the two of us. And now we add Emma in the mix with more fond memories to come. I love ya Gabe!

**Check back next week for lots of flashbacks of Emma all through the week. She is turning TWO!!**

Emma has been tagged!

Emma was tagged by Kadyn Berrett. Here are seven things about our princess that you may or may not know:

1. She carries a blanket with her every where she goes - it's yellow, green, and white and was given to her by our cute friend Allison Palmer. She LOVES this blankey.

2. She is IN LOVE with our neighbor, Brady Schmidt. When he comes over, she holds his hand and says, "Hi, Bwady." Oh, and he's 9.

3. She doesn't love to have her hair washed. We are in trouble with all of the hair she has!

4. She is afraid of dogs. When she sees one, she says "Yucky Puppy".

5. She loves to pretend to talk on the phone...always to Sarah. (Say Sarah with a really hard "R".)

6. She is a really good jumper for a 2 year old.

7. She loves both mommy and daddy, but I think she is more of a Daddy's girl.

We tag - Ella Allen, Hannah Longhurst, Pace Wadsworth, and Brylee Clark.

A Week in Review...

Sorry...been a slacker on this one...

Here are a few things that have been making me smile, and not smile this week -
  • Smile - the warm weather. Not Smile - the AC in my car is not working.
  • Smile- the warm weather. Not Smile - Turning on the AC in the house and knowing what my power bill will look like.
  • Smile - working in the yard. Not Smile - I swear the weeds grow overnight!
  • Smile - Gabe riding his bike with his friends. Not Smile - that means he is growing up and will leave me someday...
  • Smile - Emma putting full sentences together and talking my ear off. Not Smile - Talking my ear off while I am talking on the phone.
  • Smile - Emma discovering her artistic side. Not Smile - Discovering it on my WHITE coffee table.
  • Smile - American Idol. Not Smile - Knowing one of the David's will lose. (although we all know they will both go on to do great things!)
  • Smile - A clean house. Not Smile - It only lasted for about 30 minutes.

Rapper Gabe...

Gabriel came into the kitchen tonight looking like this and talking like a rapper...

He said that he was wearing this to school tomorrow - with sunglasses added in. He also made the peace sign with his fingers, kissed it, and raised his arm in the air. Can't you just see him doing this? He cracks me up sometimes!

notice Emma cheesing it up in the corner...

Flashback Friday...

Two words - Senior Portraits. Come on, you've all got them...break them out of the old dusty box. I wanna see them!! You may even see something familiar here....

Overalls....and big hair...the token "old barn" look picture...
Serious face...and big hair...and favorite prom dress... (how did I not crack up here??)

Another serious face, and more big hair...and the pedastool. You leaned against one, too, huh?

Let's just take one more look at that hair...gosh I loved that dress...
Just in case your wondering, I still have the dress hanging in my old closet at home. It can be rented for a small fee...

Our New Favorite Store...

If you live in the Draper/Sandy/Lehi area, you know the new favorite store is HARMON'S! No exception for us....This place is amazing. If you haven't been there yet, you must! It is an experience. Jesse is particularly fond of their cheese area and olive cart. I love all of the fresh produce and the bakery. Jesse and the kids had Gelato the other night, that I heard was absolutely delicious! Of course, our favorite reason to go there is their service. There is just something about those Harmon employees. What is your favorite part?

Happy Mother's Day!

I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful "mothers" in my life. I have my Mom, Grandmas, Mother-in-Law, and my "extra" moms - you know who you are...and I love you all!

Here is a picture of my Mom and my Grandma with a few reasons why I love them so...

My Mom...(isn't she a hottie??)

I love her because:
  • She loves my kids and loves to spend time with them.
  • She bakes the best bread ever. A favorite memory is getting off of the school bus and smelling fresh, warm bread. Mmmmm...
  • She taught me how to clean.
  • She makes me laugh.
  • She is tender hearted.
  • She let me be ME while I was growing up.
  • She is best friends with my Dad.
My Grandma Kate - who I am named after...

I love her because...
  • She made the best homemade rolls.
  • She was a quilter, and I loved to sit under her quilts and watch TV.
  • I could go to her house if I got sick at school.
  • She always had popsicles in the freezer.
  • She had the most beautiful flowers.
  • She always came to Grandparents Day, although she had ten kids and a million grandkids...
  • She always had a powdery smell...I can still smell it if I try really hard.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you!!! xoxo

Flashback Friday...

Malad High School Class of 1994...I stole this picture off of Daniele's blog, because I am too lazy to search for my own...

We were the biggest class to graduate since my Mom graduated in the late 60's! I think we had 86 graduates. Seriously, you knew EVERYBODY! I loved it! I went from Pre-school to Senior year with some of these peeps. I sometimes feel like a class reunion is more like a family reunion. We know each others spouses, kids....I love these wonderful friends I made in High School. Blogging has reconnected some of us...amazing!

So, I am on the front row, bottom left. I was ALWAYS on the front row...with Michelle...and Lyle. And look closely at my legs. Yes, I am wearing those darn white tights again. What was up with me and white tights???

Happy Birthday Dad!

This is my Dad...I think it is his Senior Year. I think he is so handsome.

Here are just a FEW reasons I love my Dad...
  • He is the most Christ-like person I know.
  • He is always serving others.
  • He is humble.
  • He can fix anything. I mean anything!
  • He has 5 daughters and NO sons. He was the wrestling coach and taught Auto Mechanics...no sons!
  • He fixed up a really cool old Chevy that he takes around to car shows.
  • He is not concerned what other people think about him.
  • He is a wonderful gardener.
  • He is the master camper.
  • He's a great bowler.
  • He always worked more than one job while I was growing up...and was serving as Bishop.
  • There is no question ever that he loves me, Jesse, and my kids.
  • He always took the time out of his busy schedule to take us fishing and camping every summer.
  • He always had family prayer with us before he went to work.
  • He loves to tease!
Dad - I love ya! Thanks for being such a great example to me and my family!
