Help! I hate smelly dish rags and towels!! Does anyone have a quick solution to get that sour smell out of towels...besides throwing them away, which is what I normally do? I cannot stand the stinky smell of used towels. I can smell one in the kitchen the moment I walk in, I can detect if it has been used to wipe down the table, and I detest it on my hands!! Yuck!! Does anyone have a trick up their sleeve that actually works?

Buy new ones? hahaha Just kidding! You can put a cup of ammonia in the washer when you wash them and I hear it works. Just don't mix bleach with it or you can die. Good Luck!!! Kris Yearsley(Used to be Stockwell)

Actually use white vinegar. Use about one cup in your wash and use the hottest water you can...do this everytime you wash any towels or anything that has a bad smell. It seriously works. I use it on all my dish and bath towels. The other thing I've started doing is using those clorox wipes for my kitchen. I don't even use a dish rag...smells soooo much better in my house!!

so you know I share this hatred. And to let you in on a secret...I had to throw away one of Ty's mom's because it stunk so bad! sounds like you've gotten good advice that I'm taking over, too! The thing I did last was buy a stack of inexpensive ones at Big Lots. 50 for 5 bucks or something.

Glad it worked! The other thing is to put them in the dryer as soon as they are done washing...the longer they sit wet, the more likely they are to smell sour. Where did I learn this??...Gotta love "Hints from Heloise"!! I read the comics everyday at school, and the "Hints from Heloise" is on the same page. She has some pretty good stuff on there sometimes!! :)

OOOOHHHH.... Got a great tip from the gal I visit teach. She told me about ODOBAN. I found it at Smiths I think. Or Febreeze makes an odor remover little detergent too... I have had great luck with both. I am famous for forgetting the towels in the washer and having to rewash them again. Sometimes twice! hee hee... Love you!
